NAZARETH ACADEMY an academy of excellence for young women

Nazareth Girls Record Christmas CD

(Oct. 20, 2009) WAKEFIELD:  Columbus Day was a day off from classes at the new Nazareth Academy at 27 Cordis St. Wakefield, an academy of excellence for young women, but not for all of the members of the variety of choral groups. Passing bye this lake side street on this beautiful Fall Day in Wakefield, one could hear sounds of Christmas coming from the Great Hall of this premier performing arts school. Under the direction of Performing Arts director, Lora Tamagini, the Academy Choirs along with the Children's Choir from St. Thomas of Villanova Parish in Wilmington, where Ms Tamagini is the music director, rehearsed all afternoon then in a caravan drove to a professional recording studio in town to record until very late that night their Christmas C.D. which will be ready for Christmas sale.

Ms. Tamagini, a professional opera singer, has composed most of the music that the groups performed. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and Boston University School for the Arts, Lora Tamagini has traveled the world as a singer. Lora directs the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and Trinity Vocal Ensemble at the new Nazareth Academy. Groups have sung all over Italy and for two Popes under her direction. She is also the Music Director at St. Thomas of Villanova in Wilmington where she directs the adult and children's choir.

At Nazareth Academy Lora teaches Studio Voice and Piano as well as Music History, Music Theory and Humanities. The Trinity Vocal Ensemble is in high performance demand all over New England during the holiday season and throughout the year.  On Thursday,  Nov.5th this ensemble can be heard in the Great Hall of the beautifully renovated old Hurd School. The ensemble will be performing from 6:30 to 8:30 as part of the schools Open House.

The public is cordially invited to visit the magnificent Great Hall and enjoy music and refreshments, tour the class rooms, meet the distinguished faculty who are the "Living Curriculum" leading students to discover "the best version of themselves".

Visit the website at nazacademy.org. or call our director Dr. Patricia Capone Tamagini for a day to shadow and enjoy the exciting spirit of the new Nazareth.
