As Director of Admissions and Guidance, it is my extreme pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Guidance at Nazareth Academy. The Department’s goal is to assist each student in several key areas, including personal development, academic progress, course selection, college placement and career choices. In order to achieve a satisfactory outcome in all of these categories, each member of the Nazareth staff acts as a facilitator in the process, beginning at the moment a young woman enters the Academy as a freshman and continuing through graduation and beyond.
College selection is a challenging and often daunting process, but one which I look forward to sharing with both you and your daughter. My goal is to assist in selecting the best fit for your family, not just academically but also socially and spiritually. The Department’s services will include all of the following:
· a comprehensive review of a student's academic and personal background
· recommendations for summer study, work and extra-curricular activities
· financial aid/scholarship recommendations and referrals
· standardized test recommendations and referrals
· assistance in preparing admissions essays and applications
· interview-preparation strategies
· Guidance Department letter of recommendation
Kindly refer to this year’s Department of Guidance calendar for upcoming events such as the senior Parent Guidance Night in September and the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) Financial Aid Seminar for senior parents in November. Additionally, we encourage our students to interact with university admissions personnel who will visit Nazareth during the fall semester.
